Astradyne Blog/Tips and Tricks - Twitter on the Move

The Twitter website is a perfectly adequate way of using Twitter while on your desktop or laptop computer.

It's also possible to Tweet while mobile, and the best way of doing that is to install one of the many mobile apps available for phones and other devices.

Here's a couple that I use.

UberTwitter is an application for BlackBerry phones that allows us to do all the things that you'd expect (Tweet, reply, follow, unfollow, direct message), plus:

Upload pictures to a site dedicated to serving ÜberTwitter users

Optionally update your Google Talk status with your last tweet, making your tweets reach a wider audience than just people following you on Twitter

Automatically update your location based on the cell tower information provided by your phone, no GPS hardware required

See everyone who is tweeting near you

It's available from the BlackBerry AppWorld. There are other apps available for Blackberry, such as Twitterberry, but my current favourite is UberTwitter.

Twitterrific is an iPhone/iPod Touch app that has recently been updated. Some of the new features include: support for multiple twitter accounts, searches, trends & filters, new visual themes and layouts, conversation threads, a greatly improved posting interface, marked tweets and much more.

I often have both my Blackberry and iPod with me, and so can choose which app to use. I like the speed of browsing that comes with the iPod, but I like to type on my Blackberry. You may sometimes see consecutive posts from me swapping between the two!

There's a new app on the iPod/iPhone from Twitter themselves. Anyone got any comments/feedback on it or other aspects of this subject?
